SPIRO POLICHRONOPOULOS
Was born and spent his formative years in Greece,
emigrating to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. at the age of 11
His interest in photography was piqued at Vanier College,
under the guidance of Tom Fisher, who encouraged him to
pursue the art.
He later studied philosophy at McGill University
with the intention of pursuing international law but the draw
of his first love, guided him toward further studies in
photogaphy at Ryerson University.
Starting his career in Fashion Photography, he quickly
discovered a passion for Portraiture and Dance Photography.
He has been fortunate to see his work published
in many countries but was especially honored when
the celebrated modern philosopher,
Dr. Raymond Klibansky, sat for him.
This led to an enduring friendship until Dr. Klibansky’s death in 2005.
He has spent many years away from photography, only to
return with a passionate embraoe of his art in December, 2015,
as a mature aesthete. His style is inspired by an appreciation of
classical sculpture and the simplicity of beauty it references,
formulating an ideal vision of his subjects: often seeking to
transcend the physical relationship we believe we have with the
resulting photographs.
That the notion of beauty can only be fully realized through simplicity
and harmony, is a point of departure in almost all of his work.
" I shoot other types of jobs besides weddings: editorial, advertising, personal projects, and non-profit work. I consider myself a professional photographer inspired and fascinated by weddings, not a common wedding photographer."
